Adipotide, also known as FTPP (Fat-Targeting Proapoptotic Peptide), is a synthetic peptidomimetic designed to target the vasculature supplying white adipose tissue. It combines a homing motif that binds prohibitin on the surface of fat-associated blood vessels with a proapoptotic sequence, (D)(KLAKLAK)2, that disrupts mitochondrial membranes and triggers programmed cell death of the endothelial cells feeding adipose depots. Preclinical primate studies reported rapid reductions in fat mass and body weight, making it a subject of interest in obesity and metabolic research; human clinical data remain limited.
