AHK-Cu is a copper-bound tripeptide (alanyl-histidyl-lysine) from the same family of copper peptides as GHK-Cu, studied primarily for its effects on hair follicle biology and scalp tissue. Research models investigate its capacity to stimulate dermal papilla cell proliferation, upregulate VEGF-mediated angiogenesis around the follicle, and promote hair shaft elongation and follicular vascularisation. The copper complex is also examined for antioxidant activity and its role in stabilising extracellular matrix proteins in skin research.
